Nerstane Merino Stud is a consistent trait leader in all genetic benchmarking programs.

We aim to only use PROVEN genetics so our ram buying clients can make maximum genetic gain.

The Nerstane selection system (which we have been using for over 40 years) is based on accurate measured data, progeny testing, and thorough visual assessment.

Nerstane is one of the only studs in Australia that benchmarks against the rest of the industry in every possible way. Nerstane enters their genetics in everything from the show ring, sire evaluations, wether trials, and fleece competitions.

Nerstane has a large ewe base of 1800 stud ewes and 2200 commercials. Regularly culling over 50% of both ram and ewe progeny still to make more rapid genetic gain.

Nerstane has been using Embryo Transfer and AI since 1992 as we have been identifying the elite females through full pedigree recording.  

Sales

Nerstane on- property ram and ewe sale is on the last Friday of January every year.

Nerstane also attends various multi-vendor sales including Armidale in early February, Bendigo in mid July, Hamilton Sheepvention in early August, and the Dubbo National Sales usually the last week in August.
