In order to get the most accurate scan possible, it is of up-most importance that you scan on the correct date.
Too early and the operator will not pick up the foetus; too late and it is too difficult to pick up litter size.
A guide for best scanning time is:
- For a 6 weeks joining of your ewe flock and rams, scan 6 – 7 weeks after…..85 – 95 days after the rams go in with the ewes.
- If you join for longer and want a twin scan, I still need to scan between 85 – 95 days and come back to rescan all the empty ewes at a later date.
- Wet and Dry scanning can be done successfully from 6 weeks after your rams come out to full term.
