Welcome to the Bogo Merinos Winter/Spring 2011 news update.
The Bogo Merinos on property ram sale will be held on Thursday November 3rd. We hope to offer 220 rams in the sale this year.
Once again the sale will be conducted using the Helmsman selling system – HOWEVER – we are making a few changes to the conduct of the sale in an effort to improve the speed of the sale and administration on the day.
- Rams will be available for inspection from 10.00am on sale day.
- The sale proper (ie ‘2 minute period’ ) will commence at 1.00pm as per usual.
‘2 minute period’ – if a bid is not received on any lot for 2 minutes then the sale is deemed over. - Bids will be accepted by the Landmark staff at any time after inspections start. By the time the “2 minute period” begins the sale should be well underway.
- Instead of all rams having a first bid of $600 the rams will be “graded” with staggered startup prices.
- We expect there will be three start up prices $600, $800 and $1200.
This will enable buyers to more efficiently target animals in their price bracket without necessarily inspecting the total yarding. And will reduce the total number of bids received thus speeding the progress of the sale. - We are also working on computerising the sale to speed the after sale documentation.
We are very mindful of ensuring that we provide value to our clients. The above changes are aimed at speeding the progress of the sale whilst still providing clients with the opportunity to put together a draft of rams given their budget constraints.

We intend classing this years rams during the last week of September and the sale catalogue should be available either for download from our website or hardcopy on our pre sale inspection day.
For those who would prefer to purchase in the paddock we will have an excellent selection of rams available for private treaty in mid November.
